Bobbing about…

by Tom on June 16, 2009

I don’t own a boat and I don’t really know how to sail, but I really like going sailing with my Dad when I get a chance. It’s very calming and when you’re out on a calm sea just on sail, it’s so peaceful.

Unfortunately, my dad’s got rid of his boat now, he wants to get something smaller he can put on a trailer. When I get a chance, I hope to learn to sail properly myself.

If you’d like a start I might be able to help over a pint (as part of my sailing training exploits I’m also a Commercial RYA Offshore Yatchmaster & Cruising Instructor).

The Bristol Sailing School in Cumberland Basin will do dingy / day sailor stuff for practical experience (Steve Evans is the man to ask for). And there are plenty of yacht hire places further afield if you wanted to do some non-tidal stuff.

Thanks John, that would be good. As I say, my Dad’s got rid of his boat now but will prob buy a new one next year.
